Jean H.

Piano, Flute

JeanI was born into a musical family. My dad was the Director of Music for the Milton Public School System for 30 years before retiring. Each of his children followed in his footsteps one way or another. Of course, I teach privately and have approximately 80 students. I really love the one on one teaching method and find the students progress at their own level. My brother Bib just retired from the Directorship in the Randolph School Department. He plays clarinet and bass clarinet. My brother Douglas plays trombone in his church band here in Lakeland and teaches at the Trapnell School in Plant City. Lastly, my brother Brian teaches privately the piano, trumpet, and French horn. Even all of our children play. So for years before moving down here we had our own band which was pretty busy around Christmas time. In all there were 5 flutes, 1 clarinet, 1 baritone sax, 2 trumpets, 2 trombones, and a drummer. Teaching is all I really care about, and I love to see the progress the kids make. When they get a concept, it is so heartwarming to see the smiles and the high fives. I have a very sick husband so stress is a major factor in my teaching, but I would have it no other way.
