Rick has been an instructor at Music Showcase since the fall of 2001. He received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education in 1988 from CSU in Edmond, Oklahoma and has completed 18 hours towards a Master's degree in Music Composition.
In the early 90's, Rick played on the debut album of RCA recording artist PC Quest and later toured with them as their drummer. When not touring with the group, Rick was a part-time music professor at Rose State College teaching drums, Top-40 band ensemble, country music ensemble, and Class Piano. He also was the on-camera music director for a Saturday morning kids' TV show called "Basal Ball." Throughout this time Rick played on recording dates in the studio with various clients.
Beginning in 1992, Rick was hired on as a full-time composer/musician at a major advertising agency in the Midwest, Achmeman McQueen. For the next seven years Rick composed music for such clients as Six Flags, Thrifty Car Rental, the NRA, and Oklahoma Tourism. One of the highlights of Rick's tenure was co-composing the score for the documentary "Oklahoma." It was broadcast on TNN, the History Channel, and local Oklahoma stations.
In the fall of 1999, Rick moved to the Tampa area to pursue his own music production company, Barclasson Music. The company has produced 5 full length CD albums for 4 different artists. Rick has also written music for commercials, jingles, scores for films, TV and is also a songwriter. He has written a beginning drum book and is currently working on a follow up book that is for intermediate to advanced drum set players. Rick has also taught on the Jr. College level.
