Voice, Piano
Soprano Taryn Livingston resides in the Tampa Bay area and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance at the University of South Florida, where she was honored to receive a Graduate Assistantship in Opera and a Music Talent Grant. Taryn’s recent performances include the roles of Pamina (The Magic Flute) and Micaëla (Carmen) in opera scenes, Sister Genevieve in Suor Angelica, and appearing as Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Antonia (Les contes d'Hoffmann ) and Sister Constance (Dialogues of the Carmelites) in other USF Opera Theatre productions. Last summer, Taryn performed in Don Giovanni with the St. Petersburg Opera Company and trained intensively under Sherrill Milnes and colleagues in the V.O.I.C.Experience summer opera program with Opera Tampa. In the spring of 2009, Taryn looks forward to performing the roles of Lolo (The Merry Widow), Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance) and Frasquita (Carmen).
Taryn has studied voice and piano for ten years and has taught voice, piano and music theory lessons since September 2005. Alongside performing and teaching, Taryn is the Assistant Director for the USF Opera Theatre’s March 2009 production of Carmen. She has also been the Assistant Director for opera scene productions of The Magic Flute and Hänsel and Gretel. Other credits include working with the Florida Orchestra and participating in festivals, concerts and community outreach while a member of the University of South Florida Chamber Singers ensemble and the Bel Canto Women’s Choir. Taryn’s achievements include receiving a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, placing in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions, the National Dean’s List, Golden Key International Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and graduating magna cum laude. Taryn currently studies voice with Dr. Kyoung Cho and piano with Dharshini Tambiah.
"I have a true passion for sharing music with others and for helping students to challenge and discover themselves through music. My goal as a music teacher is to give students of all ages the tools that they need to sing, play and enjoy music in a fun, educational environment. Whether a student is trying voice or piano lessons for the first time, continuing music as a hobby, or planning for collegiate studies in music, all students will receive thorough musical training to prepare them to meet their personal goals."
