Lesson Terms & Conditions
LESSON FEES
The prices of lessons are $17 per 30-minute session and $30 per 60-minute session. To inquire about group lessons, contact an associate for rates and details. There is a $15 registration fee for the first student and a $10 registration fee for each additional student when they sign up at the same time. Each new student will receive a free polo shirt.
RESERVED LESSON APPOINTMENT AND PRE-PAY
A reserved time slot is guaranteed for each student as long as his/her account balance is kept current. Reserved time slots are weekly commitments and the student's attendance is expected each week unless the lesson is canceled or ended (in writing) by the student or by Music Showcase management. Lessons are required to be paid at least ONE WEEK in advance. This prepay reserves your weekly time slot and guarantees teacher availability. If you fail to prepay, your reserved time slot is NOT GUARANTEED for the following week's lesson. If you are interested in paying by the month or enrolling in our auto-pay system, please contact a Music Showcase associate.
CANCELLATION ALLOWANCE
Each student is allowed (2) two free cancellations per quarter (January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-December). These two cancellations may be used for illnesses, vacations, doctor appointments, school concerts, etc. After two cancellations are used in a given quarter, there is a charge (equal to one lesson fee) for each additional cancellation, unless a make-up lesson is taken. Make-up lessons are strongly encouraged so a student doesn’t lose interest and can continue their progression of learning. If you are expecting to miss some lesson appointments, please plan ahead so you do not surpass your cancellation allowance. Cancellations not used in a given quarter MAY NOT be rolled over to the next quarter. Keep in mind that one cancellation counts as one lesson day, not one group of days (i.e., extended vacation). As always, there is no charge for any cancellation when the teacher is absent or the school is closed.
CANCELLATION PROCEDURE
There are three processes in which you may cancel your scheduled lesson and they must all be done with Music Showcase staff, not your individual instructors.
A. In Person - You must submit a "Cancellation Form" (click here for a printable copy) for all future cancellations for vacation, doctor's appointment, school function, special holidays and other reasons. Please sign and present the “Cancellation Form” to the education desk, not the individual instructor. It is then placed in the student’s file, notated on the schedule and the teacher will be notified. You must prepay for the returning lesson day so we may hold the time slot for you. Your next lesson is not guaranteed without prepayment.
B. By Phone - To cancel a lesson at Music Showcase, call (813) 685-5998. Please remember to get your confirmation number. Without a confirmation number, your lesson is not cancelled. This number is also used if discrepancies later appear in your billing.
C. On-Line - To cancel a lesson at least 1 day in advance you may use our Online Cancellation Form. Please fill out the information on the form, and click “submit”. The online method of cancellation can only be used for “future missed” lessons. Please do not submit an online cancellation form on the same day as the scheduled lesson. You must contact the Performing Arts Academy directly to cancel a lesson on the day of your scheduled lesson. If you are requesting a make-up lesson and do not hear from an education representative within 24 hours, please call Music Showcase.
LATE CANCELS/NO SHOWS
A lesson must be cancelled by 10am on your scheduled lesson day. Remember you are only allowed 2 free cancellations per quarter, you will be charged for additional cancellations if a make-up lesson is not taken. A lesson that is cancelled after 10am on your scheduled lesson day is considered a Late Cancel. This means, you must pay for the lesson or make-up the lesson during the same week. You will be charged for additional cancellations if a make-up lesson is not taken. If a lesson is cancelled 1 hour or less before your scheduled lesson time, you will be charged for the lesson and you are not allowed to make it up.
A No Show, which results from the student not giving any notice of absence, is charged against the student’s account. Calling during or after lesson time is considered a No Show. Please keep in mind that Late Cancellations and No Shows are not covered under the "Cancellation Allowance" described above.
FAILURE TO PAY/LATE FEES
Although we encourage our students to stay pre-paid by at least one week, we will attempt in all ways to notify you of delinquencies in your account. Courtesy letters and phone calls will be used to remind you to update your account and pay for your lessons. Please note: It is not the responsibility of Music Showcase to track outstanding payments. Students are responsible for remitting payments in a timely manner and should not wait until a courtesy call or letter from Music Showcase before making necessary payments. At our discretion, a late fee of $10 will be applied to a student's account for inconsistency in payments if (1) notification of an outstanding balance generates no response or action from the customer or (2) a monthly-paying customer is past due on his/her payment as of the fifth of the month. Failure to pay after several notifications of account delinquencies will result in the withdrawal of the student from our lesson schedule.
ENDING OF LESSONS
Should your current teacher or appointment time not be the best option for you, please know that Music Showcase has several instructors and available times to assist you and your personal needs. We are happy to work with you to find the best option that is well-matched and convenient for you. However, if you are interested in ending lessons, you may request to end your lessons at any time as long as you submit an "Ending Form" at least TWO WEEKS prior to the date of the last lesson. This early notice guarantees that you are not charged for a No Show. Please sign and present the Ending Form to a Music Showcase associate. The ending form is attached to the student’s file and the teacher is notified. Please be aware that by giving your ending notice, you are forfeiting your time slot after your last lesson. If you decide to resume lessons, you will not be guaranteed the same time slot.
