What if your schedule is packed… but you still want to dance?
Maybe your child has school, sports, homework and a million other things on the calendar. Maybe you’re a teen who wants to keep moving but can’t commit to another full program. Or maybe you’re an adult who has always thought, “I would LOVE to take a dance class… but I don’t really have time for dance classes.”
Here’s an idea: Don’t commit to every week. Just come when you can.
That’s one of the things we love about the Fall 2026 dance opportunities at the Florida Academy of Performing Arts (FAOPA). While these are ongoing classes designed for intermediate and advanced dancers, FAOPA makes it possible to attend individual classes and pay per class if committing to the full session isn’t right for your schedule.
In other words, you don’t have to rearrange your entire life to make room for dance.
-You can simply make room for one class.
-Then maybe you’ll come back for another.
-And another. 😊
Why Dance?
Because dance gives you a lot more than choreography.
It’s movement, music, coordination, balance, strength, concentration and creativity all rolled into one. Physical activity can help improve mood, reduce stress and support better sleep, while regular movement provides important physical and brain-health benefits. And for kids and teens, staying active can support attention, memory, muscular fitness and overall well-being.
But there’s another benefit that doesn’t always make the list:
You get to leave the rest of your day at the door for a little while.
Dance asks you to listen to the music, learn the movement, concentrate on what you’re doing and enjoy the moment. For a busy kid, teenager or adult, that can be a pretty wonderful reset.
And If Theatre Is Your Thing…
Dance is an especially valuable skill for anyone interested in musical theatre.
A musical theatre performer isn’t only an actor or singer. They’re also a mover. Choreography, musicality, body awareness and confidence in movement can make a huge difference when you’re preparing for a performance or walking into an audition.
That’s why dance can be such a great addition to a theatre education – whether you’re already involved in FAOPA programs or you’re simply thinking about trying something new.
You don’t have to be preparing for a show to benefit from learning the skills.
And you definitely don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing to step onto the floor.

2026 Full session: $135
2026 Drop-in: $20 per class
And here’s the part worth remembering:
Classes have already started – but you haven’t missed your chance to dance.
You can join for an individual class on a week that works for you, see what you think, have some fun, learn something new… and decide whether you’d like to come back.
That’s a pretty great way to try something new without making a giant commitment.
Put on some music. Step onto the floor. See what happens.

Sometimes trying something new doesn’t have to mean making a huge commitment.
Sometimes it just means showing up for one dance. 💜
